Plant-Based Foods Market Expands Despite Challenges
As a panelist during the session entitled “The Elephant in the Room: Is the Plant-Based Industry Really Dead?” at the Bridge2Food Summits America, Aimutis offered insight into some of the challenges — and opportunities — facing the plant-based food industry.
Plant-based food companies are fighting for shelf space in grocery stores and pivoting to meet consumer demands. One shift Aimutis reported was a return to “retro” frozen food products as a result of the pandemic. To remain competitive with animal-based products and stay attractive to the younger Gen Z population, many of whom influence their households’ buying habits, plant-based foods need to deliver on taste, texture, nutrition and price.
