Oat Milk Popularity: Aimutis Featured in SELF
NCFIL Executive Director Dr. Bill Aimutis was recently featured in the article “The Oat Milk Craze Isn’t Going Anywhere” in SELF magazine. This article focuses on the rapid rise in popularity of plant-based oat milk and its now mainstream status, posed to possibly overtake the prevalence of soy and almond milks.
Sweet, Healthy and Sustainable, Oh My
In the article, Aimutis argues that the taste of soy and almond milks has never been “able to reach flavor fandom in a wider population.” He attributes its growing popularity to that fact that people love sweet and fat, and oat milk has both, yet it is healthy. He says, “Before people even try oat milk, they are aware of the health promoting activities of oats in general.” And to top it off, oat milk is more sustainably produced than almond, cashew or coconut milks.
