Career, Challenges, Collaboration
Aimutis discovered a passion for food science in college and, after earning advanced degrees, worked for companies like Land O’Lakes and Cargill, culminating in his current role at NCFIL.
Aimutis also co-directs the Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein (BCSP), which focuses on creating new technologies for manufacturing various alternative protein products.
In the podcast, Aimutis outlines urgent food industry issues, including food security, rising food costs and increasing foodborne illnesses. He emphasizes growing concern around workforce shortages in food production, plus the lack of regulatory alignment in the U.S. and around the globe.
NCFIL and BCSP collaborate with universities, agriculture institutions, and startup and multinational companies to address some of these food challenges by developing innovative products.
