NCFIL Executive Director Bill Aimutis was recently featured in “Growth Potential” in the current issue of Business North Carolina, a long-running publication sharing the stories of North Carolina’s business community.
Creating a Niche in the Plant-Based Protein Space
The article mainly focuses on how the North Carolina Food Innovation Lab (NCFIL) is currently supporting the recent growth and innovation in plant-based proteins. Aimutis feels NCFIL’s ability to bolster this type of food innovation has created recent opportunities for the lab. The article dives deep into how NCFIL came to be, how the lab has navigated COVID, and the many services it offers both entrepreneurs and small and large businesses.
The article also looks at NCFIL’s partnerships with NC State University, Economic Development Partnership of NC and the NC Research Campus as well as its $2.2M equipment grant from the Golden LEAF Foundation.
